black magic Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 Anyone have a Black Floyd 2 Baseplate for sale in good condition? I nead a black one for the Hamer markeed Schaller Floyds that have the short locking pins as per were on the late 80`s and 90`s Hamers. Anyone have one? If it helps, it is for a 1995 Hamer Diablo Floyd 2. Thanks-Jack.
Jem Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 If i were you Jack i'd just go out and buy a new Schaller one, it'll save you hassle and probably money in the long run !Jem
Guest JackButler Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 Jack,If you buy new ones, they'll have the hardened, threaded inserts that won't strip.Just thought I'd mention this, possibly something to consider when replacing these baseplates.
black magic Posted March 17, 2005 Author Posted March 17, 2005 Thanks guys, where is the best place to buy the plate at? Thanks-Jack.
Jem Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 Jack, over here i buy them directly from the Schaller importer. Try doing a search for Schaller in the US or if that fails i think Stew Macs and/or Allparts sell spare's. Jem Another idea is i think AdmiralB uses Mighty Mite ones and says they're, within reason, compatible and probably a cheaper alternative. Might be worth dropping him a line to clarify as i may be mistaken...well i was when i got married !
AdmiralB Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 I do the same as JEM - Floyd II plates. I have been getting them through Fender but Fender and Floyd dissolved their relationship at the first of the year. I have four plates on order, and Fender says they'll fill it, but it has been four months - to be fair, Schaller has been VERY slow on stuff lately.I don't have a new source yet, but when these arrive I'll be set.
AdmiralB Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 Stew-Mac is usually the quickest! At what? Stew-Mac doesn't sell just the plates.
black magic Posted March 18, 2005 Author Posted March 18, 2005 Ya man, the Plates seam to be the hardest part to gut by itself. Jack.
Guest JackButler Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 Jack,When I used to work music retail there was a distributor/jobber called Harris-Teller who sell/distribute lots of different brand stuff to music stores...picks, strings, pups, reeds, polish, etc...find a local music store that buys from Harris-Teller...I could always get ALL of the Schaller parts individually from them.
Guest JackButler Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 You are welcome Jack....Jack. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
