Montelovesco Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Got this little box and his 10' box last week from a blow out as a living room/practice amp, since my Carvin is in the rehearsal room now.After a Frender Greta and a Vox AC4 I did not expect too much from an amp this size/wattage. But the babe is really great (for its size). Rings out nice, with lots of overtones. You have to get the highs a bit down, or the highs come a bit sharp. It goes well with humbuckers and P90, even if there are some voices on the interner that it works best with SCs. Can't really jugde that, though. I would like to try it with a bigger cabinet (one or two 12').And, most important, it goes well with pedals (Bluesbraker clone I got from HFC picturerd here). Best tool to test them without being distracted by the million options a three channel amp has to offer.
Ting Ho Dung Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Is that the new gold one? I don't have the Lil' but I do have the NT 15 which is my main practice amp. I love that amp. And yes, you should run a 12" cab if you can. I have an AC4TV that is basically unused since I got the NT.

Maybe I will take the VOX with to the next rehearsal and put him on my 2x12 Palmer box, just to see how it sounds. And yes, it is the gold edition, but I can't tell the difference to the old one...@jakeboy: I am glad I found a job for the bb. It did not fit on my gigging board (to much ODs and stuff on it anyway), but it does a perfect job in front of the VOX. Only thing I need now is a little budget reverb to give the amp a bit more "room"...

Montelovesco Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 Jake, thanks for the offer, but I think in this case size matters twice: The 10" that comes with the amp is not that bad. It is simply to small, therefore a 12". And shipping a cabinet...? Guess this will be too big... :-D
Jakeboy Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Yeah, I see your point.....some small cabs sound too boxy. I have an oversized ported 1x12 cab that sounds huge so I get it.....well, the minty old EV SRO coffee can in the back helps the hugeness for sure! What a speaker!

Montelovesco Posted February 4, 2015 Author Posted February 4, 2015 Best compliment my wife made me for weeks (beside the title "sexiest bandleader alive"):I was jamming to some blues background cd last night (always with the little VOX), she came in, dancing around and said: "That sounds like a whole band jamming live in our house - sounds really great". Assuming she did not refer to the background music - what else can I want? :-)
