petel Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 I was asked what the string height should be at first fret and 12th fret by person who is doing a set up on a 1980 Special. Anyone know?
Jeff R Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Reminder, just in case: Anything that's off any Hamer spec sheets (I don't know if that even exists) would be dramatically influenced by many factors including the nut, specifically the slots' heights; the neck relief; and the frets, aka if the guitar has been refretted and/or if the original frets have any degree of wear or had fretwork done in its lifetime. The guitar's over 30 years old and even nut slots will dig deeper over time just from strings being tuned over decades.
SSII x 2 Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Capo the first fret. Measure at the 12th fret and you should be able to get 5/64on a Hamer no prob assuming no fret issues. For reference, my Cali is at 3/64right now with the neck under .10 relief...I'm embarrassed to say I don't know the nut action off the top of my head...
