"encouraged" me to try it's new YouTube music service app via two notices on my phone, an email and a special icon on my Google page. I downloaded it, curious how they'd deal with the very obvious problem of separating the wheat from the chaff among the millions of videos residing on their servers. Short answer: they don't.The first song the service played for me was an awful, audience-member-phone recording of a live performance. The second "song" it served up was a jazz guitar lesson.It's got loads of other problems and shortcomings. It seems like they should have integrated their Songza acquisition into the creation of the service. It's worth downloading if only to see a half-assed "me-too" idea, really badly executed. Google (or is it Alphabet?) is just throwing shit against the wall to see what sticks.
