Michael_ Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 Well, I let the girlfriend drag me out to see the Donnas open for Maroon 5 tonight, and I must say I was very impressed with both bands. The guitarist from the Donnas (Donna R?) is way hot, and her chops are getting there, too. She played a Lester through a Marshall and got GREAT Angus Young tone. Actually, alot of things about her playing reminded me of Angus, from her solo phrasing to her stage moves. Somebody needs to get this chick a Sunburst!Maroon 5 was a BIG suprise- they f'in rocked. They singer played an SG for most of the set, and he had condsiderable lead chops. The other guy was very Keef Richards in his Tele rhythm playing. They have some great songs with some really neat riffs and alot of variety in the set. They shocked me by playing a note for note cover of Rockin In the Free World in their encore, and did a little medley of some Floyd and Police. Not the teen girl pop band I had assumed they were. Sweet show.*edited to add the bit about neil young*
