currypowder Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 Was wondering if anyone could help me with a wiring diagram I have in mind. I'm thinking of a 3 pickup, 3 knob, 3 way switch configuration like this: Knob 1 - volume control for the bridge and neck pickup Knob 2 - volume control for the middle pickup Knob 3 - master tone for all 3 pickups 3 way switch would be a traditional switch control for the bridge and neck pickups. I had a Burny Ace Frehely 3 pickup guitar that had the same type of layout, but with 4 knobs instead. I found a diagram for that one here: https://hazeguitars.com/blog/a-more-flexible-3-pickup-gibson I'm sure there's a way to make the leap from that 4 knob config to 3 knobs, but I'm no wiring expert. FWIW, I won't be doing the wiring, this is for a new build in the works.
triodecr Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 Instead of running brige and neck pickups to separate volumes run them to the switch. The output of the switch would go to the N/B volume. Both volume outputs go to the output jack and to the master tone. You have to wire the volumes with the pickup or switch output going to the middle terminal (wiper) or you won’t have any output when either volume is all the way down. ETA: I neglected to show the middle pu ground connection in my quick pic below.
