Is there a Brixton and a Brighton? I've heard the song So What by the Anti Nowher League say Brighton and I've heard The Guns Of Brixton by the Clash.

Are there two seperate cities? Is Brixton pronounced Bricks-ton or Bright-ton?

I'm not English, but there is a distinction. Brighton is a resort-like town on the sounthern coast of England. If you've seen Quadrophenia, that's Brighton.

There is a Brixton in the London area (not sure if it's London-proper or a burb). I believe it's on the eastern side of the Thames. For such Hawkfiends as Jem and myself, it has a special place in our musical hearts because that's where the Brixton Academy is (a music hall).

Now on the other hand, if you're a Motorheadbanger, the Hammersmith Odeon (as in 'No Sleep till Hammersmith') is on the western side of London.

I do believe you have the pronunciations correct.

Hey Scottcrud, So What, So What...So What, So What you boring lttle....yes well!

Seeker's right. Brighton's on the South Coast...about 35 miles from me and Brixton is just South Esat of the Thames through London....about 30 miles from me.

Funny thing, i roadie'd for the League '90-'92 and have played with PJ...the original drummer...various times over the past years....hell i've even known the present guitarist and bass player for years as well.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. The anto Nowhere League is a vastly overlooked band in my opinion.

I must admit after working with them i think they're vastly overated, i mean who turns up at the Astoria as the headliner's with a Peavey Bandit and a Westone tuned so you play barre chords with just one finger !?!?!!?....probably why i wasn't invited back...oh that and extracting the urine when Nick brought a Suzuki Imposter !
