Joe K Posted May 21, 2023 Posted May 21, 2023 Both my ‘80 Specials have orange drop .015uF. My ‘82 Proto and ‘83 Blitz have yellow CDE .015uF. If anyone knows, was the switchover in ‘81 or ‘82 and why? Thanks.
BadgerDave Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 All of my 80's Specials and Sunbursts had the yellow capacitors. The orange drops were likely aftermarket replacements. They were perceived as an upgrade.

The Sprague Orange drop was/is a very popular cap with guitar companies and hobbyists, and available everywhere. I would guess that is why Hamer switched to it. Cheap, reliable, and easy to order in any quantity.
