Brighten up your Budda SuperDrive SD18 & SD30

Jeff Bober (Designer of founder of Budda Amps) had my SD30 for some other fixes and I asked if he could brighten it up a bit. I always had the bass almost off and the mids & highs all the way up. The mod Jeff did move the emphasis on low mids to upper mids. Puts it more in the Marshall tone area without the brittle sizzle that Marhalls can have.

Excellent! Thanks for posting this!
If I keep my 18, I’ll do this…easy-peasy. 4 touches with a hot iron….2 to remove the old cap and 2 to solder in the new cap. Less that 5 minutes.

It gave me a lot more versatility with the tone controls. Instead of running the bass almost off with the mids & highs almost all the way up I now run the bass around 10:00 with mids & highs around 1:00 and adjust to taste. A lot more room to adjust for tone shaping.

I had the mod done with a toggle so I could switch between stock and modded modes. In stock mode it's like there's a blanket over the speaker. In brite mode the amp comes alive. The increased brightness makes the amp a lot louder. It's not overly bright as you can now dial in a lot more bass as needed.

Ok, I did this mod this weekend and our @HoboMan is spot-on….it has given the amp a more Marshally character with an upper Mids emphasis that cuts right through. More kerrang! Recommended. And it took less than 5 minutes and is easily reversible.

With so many used Buddas on the market you could grab on at a good price, do this simple mod and have what will probably be one of your favorite amps to play through for well under $1000.
