  1. Q: "Was Gary Moore a team player in Thin Lizzy?" A: "Nah. More like a, "team over-player." Nice 2014 RI. Sounds GREAT.
  2. Sturdier? Definitely. Cheaper? Hardly. Those Peaches crates are cool. In 1970-80s SoCal, record store chains Licorice Pizza and The Wherehouse had similar crates.
  3. I'm not sure. I know nothing about anthropomorphic semaphore.
  4. Simple Wood Goods I priced out building my own and the cost was roughly the same. SWG products ain’t cheap, but they’re top quality. I couldn’t bear the thought of some heavy, ugly ikea wall unit. FWIW. the second quartet was 10% off, roughly $109/ea, free shipping.
  5. Donating this 200lb (when loaded) monster to local thrift store charity: Ordered these modular units. Love 'em! Keeps the LPs dust free and easy to lift. Roughly half of my collection has filled four cubes. I'm gonna need a bigger boat: What better time to enjoy cheap, imported lager than album reorganization? This is going to take some time. Very happy with these cubes, though. Void-free, 3/4" birch ply, matte finish and solidly built:
  6. Check out their first album, "The Blue Garden", too. Another great band that fell thru the cracks.
  7. "I wanna dress like the Stones!" "Nah, forget that. I vote Mott the Hoople." "No way, man. Stooges or nothing." "I've GOT it! We all get matching Shriner's vests. My dad can bring a fez home from the temple for each of us." All kidding aside, another one of my fave bands.
  8. Early Accept. Like, "Breaker", they're finding their footing between sounding like AC/DC, Scorpions and Judas Priest. Cruncholis Maximus...
  9. Growing up in SoCal made me never want to hear these Garden Grove boys ever again. I got a reissue, 2xLP of, "Smiley Smile", last year and the ban was lifted.
  10. Where does a newly-unemployed, Deep Purple singer go with his walking papers? To this awesome band. They fell through the cracks, unfortunately. Great debut LP
  11. My fave Bon-era record. Tight, raw production, it's got the goods. I still get verklempt when I hear, "Gone Shootin'."
  12. Lemmy's first post-Hawkwind release. Despite Lemmy's odd disclaimer (see below), this stands up. Larry Wallis is no Eddie Clarke, but I love the slower, druggier versions of later Motorhead ravers.
  13. Warner Bros. have done a great job with the VH reissues. This sounds way punchier (drums/bass) than my CD version.
  14. Really great, 14-song set from Perkins Palace, Pasadena, CA. In comparison to, "On Your Feet..." and, "Some Enchanted Evening", the vocals are stronger, better mixing and BOC heavies up, "Burnin' For You", and other mid-career favorites. Buck plays his ass off on, "Roadhouse Blues."
  15. Fairly brutal, 5-song live EP from Germany, 1986. WTF happened to this band? Oh yeah, I remember: Awful, suck-ass singers. Still, hard to deny the, "machina brutilicis" of the Benante/Ian combo.
  16. “Sabotage” gets a lot of shade thrown at it due to the prog-keys of Rick Wakeman. “Hole in the Sky”...sheeit. Who swings harder than Bill Ward?
  17. I forgot I had ordered this from amazon.uk: It’s a freaking behemoth! The box had been sitting in my building’s lobby for a week. “Why the fuk doesn’t my neighbor grab their package?”, I wondered. Goes to show; check yer labels, people!
  18. Traded a spare copy of, "Women and Children First", for this. Funny, I'm not the biggest XTC fan, but I love the two LPs from this project.
