Diablo Guitars?

I see these 1980s Specials with various patterns of stripes offered at much higher prices. I don't get the appeal - it's a normal Special with random stripes, not really associated with any famous musicians. It's not even a picture, just simple stripes. And top is solid color, not even a burst or interesting woodgrain, which indicates lower quality wood. I understand some could be very limited or even one off specimens, but paying 3-4 times what normal Special is worth makes no sense to me. What are your thoughts? WOW!!! I am speechless, so many vintage guitars in one place! Are these guitars part of Dave's personal collection? or are they for sale in the store?

There seem to be a variety of configurations on Chap Custom - the ones with set neck and boomers. Aside from pickups, specifically, controls layout and placement of input jack are different from what I can find on the web. Were these production versions or are these custom features? It's a good thing Fender can't go after Hamer, so we will continue to enjoy the guitars.

Guitars are listed for high prices for multitude of reasons - sellers want to test the water, listing price is a starting point, not really looking to sell (but are forced to list by a spouse), super rare instruments, delusional sellers, etc. Keep in mind that on platforms sellers add fees premium. Many sellers are willing to negotiate, their listings are to start the negotiation. If you want to see realistic prices - check Reverb sold listings.

"Listed:10 years ago" This is very old listing, long gone. It seems $650 was around what these guitars went for 10 yrs ago.
