  1. I have something similar, (PRS Golden Eagle) with the 24.5" scale and I put 9's on it. I put 10's on everything else (a mix of Hamer, Gibson and PRS). Guess I could try 11's on one of my others, see how they feel. Nice Santana by the way.
  2. Thanks vitass, but not quite as clean as those pics depict. My Sunburst has checked, and has some battle scars on her, especially round the edge of the headstock, and the puckup bobbins and rings are more yellowed than the pics show. I think the camera makes them appear whiter than they actually are.
  3. I've always been a bit curious as to the hardware fitted to the early Sunbursts. My '78 has the amber bell/bonnet knobs, a black switch tip and unplated bridge saddles and I've often wondered if they were the original parts. It also has 5 bullseye Grovers and one flatback. Pics attached.
  4. That's a Hamer history lesson. Even Jol didn't have that in his lesson. I love the 70's. Had the best music, movies, tv shows, clothes, cars, drugs and that's when NY was a shithole. Thanks! Bm Don't know about the drugs.........or NY for that matter, but I agree with everything else.....the mid 70's onwards were my teenage years.....loved every minute of it.
  5. Jethro Tull at Madison Square Garden 1978, doing Aqualung and Locomotive Breath. Martin Barre with his black Hamer Sunburst, who after Rick Nelisen was probably one of the first major guitarists to start using Hamers.
  6. Very sad to hear this news. I don't know the "whys" and whatnot, just that Fender bought them out a few years back. You don't see many Hamers Down Under, but I'm glad to have my own piece of American guitar history in my collection. Just a shame some of the best guitars to come out of the USA wont be made anymore.
