crunchee Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 Interesting guitar with an interesting mix of features (no affiliation). Neck to me looks like it's from a late 30's/early '40's Recording King (Kay? Gibson?); not sure about the body, looks like somebody sawed off a chunk of the full-sized hollow body and reglued the side (or made a side from another guitar) to fill the gap for the cutaway. Some of the tuners look vintage. Pickup is Charlie Christian style or a vintage clone/copy with a vintage-type 3-point mounting that some early versions of that pickup did have. Tailpiece looks similar to either a vintage Kaufman vibrola or a side-handled Gibson similar to the type seen on early SGs, or a copy of either. The exposed wire at the end of the body is probably for grounding, but that's just my guess. $120 listed for shipping, which possibly explains (at least partially) why this thing hasn't been bought yet. velorush Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 Somebody cleaned out their parts drawer! All kinds of stuff going on there. The surround on the CC pickup is odd, too, being rounded rather than pointed (and given the bevel is consistent it appears it was made that way). 1 Quote
