This is so good. i bash JoeB all the time, but this just makes me smile...

I sent it to everyone i know that appreciates guitar...

I'm kind of in the same boat. For some reason I can't stand the guy. Never click on him but he's everywhere and always coming up in my AI Rhythm. This one was good.

I like Joe.  He catches a ton of flack, but he's a gear nut and stupid talented.  I've followed him since before he got popular. One of my best friends went to high school with him, so I heard about him long before he got popular. I've enjoyed watching his career evolve since the early days.

Joe B is a great player no doubt but I've never been a big fan boy of him. When I saw him in concert I kept thinking of Eric Johnson when he'd often pull out the cascading trademark runs of EJ. Well, not like only EJ should play them but that's just what it reminds me of as a listening guitarist that's all. Much like all the guys tapping in the 80s were obviously influenced by EVH, and who wasn't, especially from that era?

Now to be fair when I saw EJ (and Satch) in concert I actually got kind of bored as well. I mean impeccable playing, tone etc. but it was just a lot to me, at least at that time.

I may have been evolving my listening preferences from my hard rock metal roots back to liking "songs" more than solos,  back to liking players like Mike Campbell who would play a 3 note fill that would become as big a part of the song as the chord structure itself, cue Here comes my girl etc.  Going from fast forwarding songs to the solo because that's how big I had  allowed them to become to me. Going from judging music by " but that's so easy to play that's stupid', said with crossed arms no less, to just enjoying how it adds to the song as a whole.

Anyway, I still listen to all my influences from my sister's record collection like The Carpenters , Neil  Diamond, Simon and Garfunkel (she was 8 years older) to harder stuff from the 60s to now, NWOBHM, Accept, Loudness etc. etc. to Weezer, REM, Liz Phair, big band music, show tunes, classical etc. etc. Man, I love music!!

Sorry to be so long winded!
