Interesting watch, thanks for posting that.  And yet, when you watch the old EVH 1984 videos, his Kramers had nothing, not even a cover on the control cavity.

I've done copper (relatively expensive - wear gloves or shred your fingertips!) and cheap aluminum foil in Strats. Seems to make about 0.000001% difference, at least in my very limited experience. These days I find the original (Leo got it right, again) plate behind the pickguard is simple, easy and relatively inexpensive. I always liked the Hamer plate in the '80's guitars.
