savethematches Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 After a couple hours of listening to the top two guitarists in the area duel it out in numerous tunes, and after killing a few Coronas, I made my way to the stage and proceeded to play for the next hour and a half. Played a lot of tunes I didn't know, but still held my own with the big dogs. It's strange playing someone else's guitar though. I grabbed one guy's strat and jumped in on the tune already in progress, only to discover that he had a scalloped fretboard and really heavy strings and relatively high action. For some reason, though, I got around on it pretty well. Anyway, I haven't played publicly for at least a year, and I had an excellent time. The beer was cold, the band was groovin', and I was in top form, which of course is quite relative. Today, my fingers are sore, and I'm dog tired, but I had a blast!
DavidE Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 That's funny because I had a gig last night and I DID suck. ;-) Had a hell of a great time though!!!!
tomteriffic Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 I enjoy the hell out of jams/sitting in. For some reason, there's nothing more fun, to me, than playing by the skin of my teeth. Once in a while, you land on your face, but, hey, no pain, no gain. Do it as often as possible, Marty. I've been known to make a 16 hour round-trip drive just to embarass myself in front of the legendary Grumpys.
