savethematches Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Two years ago, my principal let me buy a Pro Tools MBox system for my studio here at work. After messing with this thing on and off for two years, I finally managed to record my first track this week. I've clearly discovered that this thing is too complicated for me and is out of the question for use by my students. I think I'll go for a simpler Cakewalk software package and some sort of USB input.Would anyone be interested in purchasing this? It's in mint condition, has all bundled software, documentation, and the original box.We paid $499 for it, and I would like to get $450 out of it. Is that a reasonable price? The item won't be officially for sale for a couple of weeks because I have to jump through some hoops with the administration, but it should be good to go well before Christmas.
geoff_hartwell Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 The completed listings on eBay for used mboxes show a price range of about $350 and below.Did you watch the included instructional dvd? ("protools method one")
cswilder Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 You can use the mbox with cakewalk or any other DAW as it includes ASIO drivers.

("protools method one")I don't recall seeing an instructional dvd. I'll have to look in the box for that. I hadn't checked ebay, but I think you're probably right about dropping price some. If administration approves the sale, I'll put it up for $400 since it's basically in new condition. In reply to cswilder, I tried to use the mbox with another software program, but I can't figure out how to get the computer to recognize the usb input as an audio source. Any advice?
