cswilder Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 I'm selling a 1955 J-160E. It's an early enough model to have a solid spruce top so it actually sounds very nice acoustically. It has a smooth compressed sound that is great for fingerpicking. The finish is heavily checked/dinged with a number of scratches but no structural problems. Clearly it's been a player for 50+ years. It has been re-fretted so the frets are in good shape. There are no cracks or breaks. The hardware is all original with the possible exception of the knobs...I just don't know how to tell for sure and they seem rather clean compared to the rest. The tuner buttons are original and un-shrunken. The neck is typical 50s Gibson chunky and the guitar intonates and plays well. It came to me in and old worn case with a blue lining and broken handle. I don't know if this is original but I'll ship it to you in the old case or a newer TKL. I'm looking for $3850 OBO shipped overnight in the lower 48. I'll consider partial or full trades for other vintage guitars. Email for a complete set of pics or with any other questions.
