Disturber Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 http://www.soundgenerator.com/news/index.cfm?articleid=5115 http://www.jmascis.com/ Mascis, Barlow & Murph. Let's hope they'll do a new album too. I love Mascis guitar playing. Sloppy with style, just like mine
Craig Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 I didn't realize they were gone! I'm happy for anyone who likes them though.Joeren - my buddy was talking to Vito Bratta the other day, no WL reunion is going to happen except possibly in Europe if the money is huge. He's comfy, doesn't want to do it, and has a family he doesn't want to leave to go on tour, so I think we are all shit out of luck.

jwhitcomb3 Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 When I was at UMass Amherst in the 80's, Dinosaur was just one of the campus bands (actually they hailed from neighboring Hampshire College). They were always playing around somewhere. The first time I saw them was at Hampshire. They set up a huge boom box in front of the stage and turned it all the way up until the sound broke up and just blasted it for the whole show. Of course, you could only hear it between songs, but it was quite an experience!BTW, the "Jr." part came later...I think I still have their first album from when they were just "Dinosaur".Last spring I was at M-Works studios in Cambridge having my band's second album mastered. The mastering engineer, Colin Decker hung out with us after the session and told us he'd recently remastered the first couple of Dinosaur Jr. albums. Well, actually "remaster" was the wrong term...they'd never actually been mastered before! I can't remember if he told me he was working with Lou or J, but he said that when he was done they'd cleaned up and defined the sound so much that it was almost unrecognizable. Lou/J loved it, but they decided not to release it because he was worried they'd alienate old fans with the radical change. Man, I'd love to get a copy of them anyway! I'm glad to hear about the reunion...I hope they come around locally!-Jonathan
