Bruiser Brody Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Congrat on the new axe sirskelt!Edited for sinister purposes...
sirskelt Posted April 30, 2007 Author Posted April 30, 2007 my only fear now is that my Monaco will get less use... man does the Duotone have a killer sound... serious lows yet crsip and distinct highs. I've yet to mess with the eq settings on the back (are these for the piezo?). This baby really kicks. Just need a new set o strings and either yank out those black screws completely or replace them with some gold ones to offset the knobs.
BCR Greg Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 The EQ in the back is for the Piezos. Set them all flat until you get used to the tone of the guitar into a P.A. After a bit, tweak and learn.I have done sessions where the call was for an acoustic guitar. I get my trusty duotone out and the producer invariably says"Uh, this is an ACOUSTIC session." I proceed to plug in and silence the naysayers!Welcome to the family, again, my friend.
Brooks Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 wow thats sweet! you don't like that finish color?!?
BCR Greg Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Just for fun, my Duotone collection before I sold some off in the interest of a new transmission....
sirskelt Posted April 30, 2007 Author Posted April 30, 2007 wow thats sweet! you don't like that finish color?!? Actually its growing on me alot. Its not that I didn't like it but I was thinking the honey color looks great or maybe a trans cherry. The more I look and play, the more I like. All the bases are covered, for now . Diablo with skull inlays on one end, and cherry burst duotone on the other! Since our music is kind of all over the place style wise, it makes sense to have different brushes to pain with, no?!? The drummer is gonna flip out when he gets back in town, my collection has literally doubled since I moved to Austin...
Brooks Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 i like cherryburst more than trans red, but thats me. the stock pups sound really good, but i think the duotone sounds best w/ phatcats, or a rio grande bridge & phatcat neck combo. enjoy your duotone, they're my fave hamer (although i don't have many, i have owned a few nice hamers at the same time, and i kept the duotone)...
sirskelt Posted June 18, 2007 Author Posted June 18, 2007 As I have posted elsewhere I'm in the market for my second Duotone. My current one gets all of the playing time now and needs a refret job bigtime... eyes and ears open for the next one for me to add!!
