  1. Losing the use of my left hand with the dreadful fear I would never be able to play again. It will be 3 years ago very soon and I am about 90%. I may never get back to 100% but I am thrilled I can play again! (and tie my shoes, button my shirt and open a can of Dr Pepper, etc!). I will never take things for granted again.
  2. ALUMINUM! gives a nice THOINK! and it is easier to clean after the fact.
  3. I used to deliver pizzas to Rick's house in Buffalo in the early 80's and I would have to say you are right on target. One of the front windows was a stained glass version of the heart with wings from his first album. He also tipped very well. I could easily see such gear in his basement studio that I never got to see. Back on topic, I don't intend to highjack the thread!
  4. I'm still jumping from standard D to standard E trying to ease the pain of singing and playing. I'm having major difficulty rewriting lyric melodies as my brain has trouble letting go of the way the songs were originally written. Most songs we do with standard E tuning my voice is too nasal and whiney (too emo?!?). I have a solo acoustic show this weekend and just decided it will be all standard D. As a result I have been able to sleep and not toss and turn over the difficulty I'm having with it all. It has felt like patting my head, rubbing my belly, hopping on one foot and reciting the alphabet backwards skipping every other letter. For the gig I'm going with whats comfortable! I've also tinkered with the "new" Duotone and have it sounding pretty good. Great tone and no buzz. Unfortunately its standard E so I won't be using it this weekend Anyone have experience down tuning the Duo? I may try that sometiome because it has an amazing sound and using any other guitar now is just a let-down as far as sound quality. I am also trying to play more lead parts, fills, solos and such with the rest of the band. I always seem to rely on the standard blues scales and I'm just not comfortable "piddling around" while the band is there.
  5. Yikes! I sure hope that was just a fart! Uh oh... turtle head is poking out! Damn that was a wet one.. think I got some skids!
