saxmanjack Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 I'm giving up on tube amps, will be selling my Velocette 12R when I find something to replace it. I just want a good CLEAN tone that still sound good and clean at louder volumes -- don't like the way the EL84's seem to compress the tone.Feel free to make suggestions...Thanks,Jack

Guest Meshuggah Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Great amp!Two suggestions:1. Put a Valvulator in front of the signal chain. Adds a touch of roundness and mellows out the analog electronics.2. Put a time based multi-effect box in the serial loop. T.C. G-Major is NICE! An M300 works (I have one for sale) but its big brother is just awesome.Great flexibility in the above. Amp also works well with a Keely BD-2 for the hair-of-the-dog-that-bit-you edge to cleans.

serial Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 I like the TM60s and they sound great. For what I use 'em for, I've been a bit spoiled by the Duoverb and even the Rocktron Replitone modelers. Plenty loud, completely versatile and easy to set up with between 4 and 9 sounds per bank respectively. As much as I loved the TM60 and may still eventually pick one up, I'm sold on the benefits of the SS modeling stuff that I have (not ALL of that stuff though), even though I think you can get better sounds out of the TM60 at times. ArnieZ had a smoking deal on a Duoverb combo with the footboard controller if the TM60 doesn't work for you.
