Ethan Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 I'm kicking around the idea of getting an overdrive pedal for bass, nothing super fuzzy or distorted, just something to add some grit. I use a Fender Pbass with an Ampeg SVT3 and 610 cab, and a Sansamp pedal, which I know most of you would probably say, oh just use that for overdrive, but i am not real into the way it sounds with the gain up very much. I tried a BBE Green Screamer and a Big Muff yesterday, just wasnt doing it for me, any suggestions?

That being said the bluetube II is the best of the 3, and is most adjustable, but having used the pedal as well as the II in the past, they are difficult to balance with the clean sound level and take a little tweaking every time you play.
elduave Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Boss Bass Overdrive. Whatever you end up with, make sure it has a blend control.
quimby Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Boss Bass Overdrive. Whatever you end up with, make sure it has a blend control.+1 on the Boss pedal (ODB-3). I have mine set on the suggested setting for 'overdrive' and it gives me exactly what I want (which sounds like what you're looking for).
Mindseyes Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Bang for your buck.....Digitech BAD MONKEY $40! I use it allmost more than my Fulltone bassdriver! It wont do over the top distortion but it does a very natural OD. Did i mention $40 bucks! At least go try one! It has made a permanent home on my PB. You cant go wrong with any of the others that have been mentitioned also!
Scottcrud Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 what pedal will give you the Bass player from Unsane's monsterous tone?
Ethan Posted June 14, 2007 Author Posted June 14, 2007 apparently my friend mikey uses a digitech bass overdrive and it sounds great, my brother has a boss bass overdrive that i might grab from him and check out when i get a chance...i was really bummed with how that bbe sounded, i had high hopes for it.

I'll sweeten the deal for ya too...
MR714 Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 +1 to the Boss Bass Overdrive. My fave is the Line 6 Distortion Modeler at the Line 6 distortion setting. Lots of crunch and you don't lose your low end.
Ethan Posted June 18, 2007 Author Posted June 18, 2007 Ok today i tried the boss one and a tube screamer, and the tube screamer was close to what im after...i think i am starting to narrow it down some
