hamerican gigolo Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Members of HFC! I bought a Tone-Pros bridge from BCR Greg (thanks) for my '95 Studio. I took it to a high-end guitar dealer close to me who is a Hamer dealer, and does a lot of internet business.(guess who?) I needed to have the saddles notched. He bascially ruined the saddles, and i am out over a $100. How would any of you have handled it? I apologize for the rant, but i am so goddamned mad i can hardly see straight. Have a nice week.
MCChris Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 I wouldn't have bothered to have the saddles notched to begin with. How did he ruin them? Is the dealer refusing to acknowledge what he did and make restitution?
hamerican gigolo Posted June 17, 2007 Author Posted June 17, 2007 The spacing between the low E and low A is way too close together, which throws the rest of the strings off. I have big hands and i need proper string spacing to bend strings. The repair guy is not the one who would admit to making a mistake, let alone making restitution.
DavidE Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Wouldn't it be easy to show his error by comparing the notches in the original saddle to the notches he put in the tonepros?I imagine you could just get new saddles for the tonepros.
MCChris Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 The repair guy is not the one who would admit to making a mistake, let alone making restitution.Well if he did the notching, there can't be much debate as to whose mistake it was.Threaten to wrap those big hands around his neck if he's not willing to work with you.
BCR Greg Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 If I were to bugger a customer's bridge, I would be honor bound to replace it. Notching saddles is easier than tying shoes, so I'd go in and demand a replacement and take my future tech work elsewhere.
