santellavision Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 For any of you interested in the famous Caribou Ranch studio in CO, there is a brand-new news feature out here in the Rocky Mountain News. Since the studio closed in '85, there hasn't been any news or stories. Jim Guercio has pretty much been silent. Now he's opened up and started to tell some stories about the history.Absolutely amazing. They recorded so many hits there. Joe Walsh, Elton John, Supertramp, Jeff Beck, Rick Derringer, Beach Boys, Dan Fogelberg, Chicago, Steven Stills, Michael Jackson, EWF etc, Watch some of the videos on the link, they are great too. Enjoy!http://www.rockymountainnews.com/special-r...end-of-caribou/
elduave Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Some of my favorite Elton and Chicago songs where done there. Thanks for the link!
Rockola Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Very nice.It wraps up one of those subjects that I stumbled upon on wiki not long ago. I spent a couple of hours chasing google links for Caribou about all sorts of junk. Like the piano in on Supertramp's ~ Even in the quietest moments album was carried outside in the snow to create that live shot. Of course, the fire and mundane stuff about the high-end, temperamental board that was eventually installed.Chicago's TV special was filmed there. Lots of those live performance used to be on youtube - like the Al Green/Chicago collaboration I posted on another thread. Those clips give great views, inside and out.ThanksS.
