Hamer95USA Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Hey people, Here is the '93 Hamer USA Diablo that I was working on back in June. I replaced the damaged bridge studs & locking nut screws, serviced the Schaller/Floyd Rose bridge (total overhaul), replaced the missing tremolo arm & spring cover plate, intonated & set the action on the guitar. The guitar plays really nice now. stays in tune quite well, and the Bill Lawrence L-500XL pickup absolutely just crushes!! I didn't care much for the Seymour Duncan JB pickup in the bridge which I thought sounded decent, but not for what I wanted the guitar to do which led me to a decision to install the BL L-500XL pickup for a more punchy & agressive tone. When I first got the guitar, the previous owner strung it up with acoustic guitar strings (WTF!!), the bridge was abused & not working properly, and the various hardware parts were missing or abused. The neck & body shows quite a bit of player wear, but I consider that it gives the guitar some character/relicing after being around for 15 years with different owners. The guitar itself is quite resonant and projects more acoustically than my '94 Diablo II which I though was really wierd. Maybe it's because some of the finish has become worn away & has been played on so much that it got that way or it's a good piece of wood.. Another humble Hamer guitar saved & cared for by its new owner!! Guitar George

You must shred on the Diablo, make it cry for mercy, and then sling it over your shoulder like Yngwie Malmsteen without crashing your guitar into the drumset!! Obviously, its previous owners did all the relicing, I was considering getting it refinished, but the $300.00 bill for refinishing the guitar sort of turned me off to it considering that I paid $325 for it w/OHSC. I'll continue to wail away on this guitar until I want something else. Guitar George
