BC RICH bridge help

David B

Question

Posted

I just bought an older BC Rich NJ series (Japan made) Wave. I was thinking of replacing the bridge with something else. I don't want to do any mods to the body. Do any of you guys know what style bridges/if any would would fit right on using the bushings that are already there? A wraparound would be nice if it would work.

Here are a few pics...

A wraparound would fit. The spacing on these is standard. An LQ BadAss or a Pigtail intonatable wrap should fit as well.

If you want to sell that bridge, let me know. I have a Mockingbird that could use one. I did find a replacement bridge, but the shape yours is in matches the overall condition of this guitar better.

And, dude, show the rest of the guitar... Waves are one of my favorite BC designs.

If you can swing a trip to Durham we can see if a Tone Pros wrap fits.

So, do you think this bridge would work well?

I may sell the old one if I get the new bridge dialed in really well.

I may do that. I almost wanted you to refinish this one, but I guess it's in too good a shape.

I missed out on a USA Dean Baby Z that I was bidding on for less that $300 that I was going to bring to you. I'll find something.

It should fit. It should measure just shy of 3 1/4" center to center.

I had one of those on my old Seagull and ended up putting the original back on it.

The nice thing about the Khaler-made BC Rich bridges (the one on the guitar now) is that you can adjust the height on each string. Takes a while to setup, but it works well.

The downside is that they are heavy tone-suckers. If you want tone, go with a light-weight aluminum wrap (non-intonatable). Just my opinion, and there are a LOT of others around here that know more than i do about this, so YMMV.

Let me know. No rush at all. PM or email is fine.

I might have one of those languishing in the shop somewhere, I'll look.

I went ahead and ordered one of these. It didn't cost very much. If I don't like it, I'll try your Tone Pros.

Sure thing. It's missing the two small screws that go against the two posts. The bridge needed to be backed up a little bit & I couldn't do it because of that. That's why I want a new one.

Thanks for the help guys!

Gorgeous Wave.
