bmenary Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 AFTER AN HOUR JAMMING OLD VAN HALEN ON THIS GUITAR I HAVE DECIDED I CAN'T SELL IT RIGHT NOW AND THOUGHT I WOULD LEAVE THE THREAD AS REFERENCE FOR EVERYONE WITH A LINK TO FIND RON THE BUILDER AND THE PUP MFG- NOW, ABOUT THIS PUP- (See link below) wcrguitar.com Darkburst Pup- guys, I have been into the Brown sound for years and I know you have read these words before only to be disappointed- but I can tell you without a doubt this Pickup NAILS the old Van Halen brown sound- NAILS IT- wonderful pup for any heavy high gain- it is extremely articulate... Built at at Ron's Guitars Builders Site with Photos This is the Pup- It's smokes- Pickup Audip Clips check out stratplexi This instrument made from good materials/hardware and electronics-Floyd Rose Pro/Schaler.. it plays and sounds great- Has a bit (20%) of the finish on the back is a little rough- maybe it got hot or something- maybe the builder did it on purpose No big.. Guitar over all is in great shape. Frets are in great shape- Neck is straight- Plays very well. Guitar has it's share od dings but it's in nice shape- very dramatic appearance!! High quality Floyd and Schaler hardware-The Pup screams old Van Halen- shipped in a HSC- I will ship it anywhere you pay for- Serious inquiries can call me 8-8 CST- Barry 773-370-8527- I Spoke to the builder who said it would cost 2100 to build this guitar today so I am probably pricing it low- I will do 975 shipped in the US (insured) It plays, feels and sounds much better then the production guitars from Charvel- IMHO Need cash to cover another purchase so no trades at this time please- Lots of images here- PICS The guy I got it from wrote me this- EVH 100% true neck and setup although you can feel the fret tangs. (very easy fix) The paint is spot on accurate to Eddies but could use a final clear coat or buffing… (you can see the lines slightly overlapping) The guitar is probably between 8-9 lbs and sound great! Neck has a very comfortable carve, not too thin or thick. All hardware is top notch and nothing is corroded etc. With a Floyd Rose Pro, you cannot up-bend… although you can break a string without going out of tune. (you cannot sadly however put a D-Tuna on it) Never took it apart so I am not sure what pickup is in it.
