Wall hangers

I've heard varying opinions about wall hangers for guitars; I see most guitar stores hang the majority of their guitars, but put the more expensive models on floor stands in glass cases; but that maybe just to ptotect them from dust, and inquisitive hands.

Would prolonged suspension by the headstock have an adverse affect on the neck body tenon ?

Not if it was made well. IMHO there just isn't enough tension created because of the weight (or lack thereof). A guitar would have to be seriously heavy to put enough stress on that joint to have an adverse effect.

Me, I wouldn't hang a guit finished in Nitro.

If the finish isn't hard enough you could get the hanger digging into the finish over time.

Most of the good hangars have that problem addressed and you could always use a towel or rag to cover any rubber.
