SteveB Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 how do you guys who have TM60's use them? Clean only with pedals? Use the drive channels? How does the sound of the drive compare to the Sansamp TriAC? Hows the clean headroom?
sirDaniel Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Hey BCRG, show him the T60 pedalboard.I like the pic of Les Paul using one. That gets my attention.
hardheartedbill Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 I used the clean channel and pedals into the front, I just don't do amp distortion live much anymore as it's too room dependent in my experience. I loved the dirty side recording or dicking around but I stuck to the clean side out of habit live. It does take some tweaking at the pedals as the input on the TM60 wont compress as much as a tube amp input , good clean headroom and do use the line out, it's muy cool
Jimbilly Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 I've tried a few different distortion pedals, and I always go back to the dirty channel for distortion (maybe not the right ones?), so I guess it depends on your ears! The boost function is the coolest, never again worry about the sound guy missing your solo.
hardheartedbill Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 I was using it for the small gigs, then I was letting the second guitarist in Soulbone use it, I sold it to a board member last month, I'll buy another one day, I love em and the sale was financialy motivated
BCR Greg Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Just get one, they work. I give 24 hour approval. I have used one as my main amp for years, bulletproof.
fruhike Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 I have a 120 and use the amp distortion. I used to use a multi-effects processor but the amp distortion sounded better and was much simpler to use. I love mine. I traded a Line 6 for it and have been very pleased with the results.
licksville Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 +1 for the amp distortion, although to my ears I think there is a definite sweet spot when dialing in the distortion, somewhere at just over half the maximum possible volume, at least with my preferred settings, but then again I've heard it cranked up with someone else playing it and it cooked all the way to the redline. BCRG once said during a store demo, 'the knobs really do stuff on this amp'. I will attest to that from the gigs I've played with it. I actually write down/draw the knob settings after a night where I have tweaked them for the room and really liked the sound, so that I won't have to fiddle with them for the return engagement. +1 for the volume boost, a big selling point with me. Take some time with your listening and tweaking before you decide if you need a pedal. Less sh1t to carry = more fun.
Imiss85 Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 So how close do you guys come to a good classic rock Marshall tone with this thing? Can you do the 80's hair metal solo sounds with it without a bunch of pedals? I just got an Atomic with my podxt yesterday, so far I'm not very happy and the amp is ugly as a two headed hooker with three teeth. The Pod xt is great through headphones, I can't seem to tweak it to get the sounds out of the amp.
BCR Greg Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 A two headed hooker with three teeth could be quite productive.I get great Hair Metal tones, no toys.
