POD 2.0 Fix

I've got a POD 2.0 that's been just sitting around for a while. I plugged into it a few months ago, and it worked at first, then I couldn't change the settings - no matter where I was on any dial, it stayed the same. I turned it off, and then the LED started reading odd characters and blinking. Nothing was coming out of the headphones at all at this point. I tried switching it on and off, and nothing seemed to work.

Since that time, I've attempted to get it working again, and nothing seems to do the trick. Pretty much the same result, although maybe 1 in 15 times, I'll get to dial something in and play for a while. After a few minutes, it's pretty much back to where it was before - not working. Is there an easy reboot that I'm just not able to figure out here maybe?

Any thoughts? I'd hate to trash the thing, but it isn't worth investing a ton of money into it for repair (since it's LONG out of warranty anyway). Anybody dealt with Line6 on this kind of thing before or anybody had any POD fixin' experience?

Just putting it out there for the experts...

Thanks!

Edited to add - this is not anything I'd gig with. Just for home/vacation/hotel room on business trip usage. If this would cost me $75 or $100, I'd just snag a Tonelab or something.

Didja try a re-init of the POD? Download the manual from Line 6; there is a procedure to re-init the POD back to factory original specs (hold down a couple of buttons and turn the device on - then it asks for you to confirm before re-initializing back to factory original specs). Of course, it overwrites all your saved presets but it might chase the digital gremlins from their lair.

If you upgraded that one from POD 1.0 with the ROM chip, you might recheck just to make sure the ROM is properly seated (just in case the young'uns been using the bean for a football lol). You could also check it for cruft and dog hair - if it works for a while but then frazzles I'd wonder if there is something happening after the device warms up (not like it's a tube amp or anything). Also check to see if the power jack is loose or wiggly - another source of electrical gremlins.
