gwayne Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 I'm considering resurrecting my old American Standard Strat and was thinking about trying the Fender Vintage Noiseless. Anyone have any experience with these or other noiseless pickups? Lace Sensors?
Rocktuna Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 I have them in my Daytona. I did an A-B-C test between 3 Fenders, one was a new Deluxe Strat with vintage noisless, one a USA Standard Strat and the other was an early 70's. Needlesss to say the vintage noisless sounded way better than the Standard, and even better than the 70's. More spank, fuller tone not lame like my Lace Sensors did in my old Strat. I love them
guitarzandstuff Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 I like them also. There is a ganeral concensus among the "snobs" that they suck but to each his own.I have a few sets.
Guest Mike Lee Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 The reason the "snobs" think they suck is because they don't really sound like true single coils, and aren't very vintage. They are thicker, more compressed, and require 1 MEG pots to get any highs out of them. This gets back some of the missing brightness, but it's harsh instead of airy like a great strat. These are a lot like the older Duncan strat stacks. For great noiseless singles that sound like singles, go for Kinman or DiMarzio Virtual 2's.But if you are looking for something different than true single coil tone, the Vintage Noiseless are fine if you like the tone. Also check out Bill Lawrence.
pesocaster Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 The Duncan vintage rails I had in the Mirage sounded fantastic... and were quiet as hell...
