Turdus Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Who plays which solo on Cowboy Song? Both rock, but the tone and intensity of the 2nd solo seems slightly better than the first. I've dug this cut since Jailbreak first came out. Also love the pictures of Brian and Scott on the back, playing the LP Deluxes. Wonder if they really used those on the record?
Brooks Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 pretty sure its gorham then robbo, i used ta have it on video somewhere...
biffrythm Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 I don't know, but they get the best crunchy Marshall sound on that album. I bet it even makes Angus and Malcolm jealous.
jerseydrew Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 This is a great, great song. Way back in the mid 80's, my college fraternity band used to do this.
paults Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Great song! I was in a band that did that song, too. Right after the album came out : )
Brooks Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 we used to link "boys are back in town" w/ "the cowboy song", just like the live album. rawk!
MCChris Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 pretty sure its gorham then robbo, i used ta have it on video somewhere... I'm pretty sure that's right. It's even more apparent to me on the Peel Sessions version, the difference in their styles. Gorham had the more laid-back California approach, Robbo the more in-your-face, reheaded-Scottish-teenage-drunk thing goin' on LOL!I often compare Phil to Lennon in terms of songwriting quality and to Springsteen in terms of that street poet, champion-of-the-regular Joe persona, 'cept Phil did it dressed like a cock rocker LOL. He was a great man. I miss him.

Definitely Gorham first, then Roberston.
