morningstar Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 I have noticed that some pickups (Schallers and Duncans) don't fit into the direct mount shredder bodies. The seem to me a millimeter or two too wide to fit into the factory routing. Are DiMarzios skinnier (long edge to long edge)? What fits these routes?Thanksmorningstar
dboy66 Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Very interesting. I just discovered myself that covered Duncans will not fit into the routes in an '82 Special that had stock Dimarzios, and I'm wondering if this is a universal problem. Do Dimarzios have a smaller footprint? Does anyone know if the routes had to be altered when Hamer switched to Duncan?
morningstar Posted April 21, 2011 Author Posted April 21, 2011 It gets weirder...I just got two Trembuckers from Squid Music in Stanton CA. JB and a 59 neck. Middle is a JB Jr.The Trembuckers dropped right in!The SH humbuckers and the ESP (Schallers) would not fit.hm mmmmmorningstar
veatch Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 The DiMarzios are thinner, i do believe.I ran into trouble on a Caddy a while back: http://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=47069
