Volume/tone control 'lugs'...can they be repaired?

I have a Hamer that a previous owner had changed the knobs on. When I decided to change them to the proper 'top hat' types, I found that one of the 'lugs' on the shaft of the control had been broken off before I bought the guitar...these are the things on the end of the shaft that you can re-tension to keep the knobs from falling off. The control works fine otherwise. Can a new 'lug' be soldered on?

Also, out of curiosity, has Hamer USA guitars used the same volume and tone pots since the beginning? Are they all specially made specifically to Hamer's specs, and are there no equivalent commercial replacements? What are the specs and how do they differ from other commercial pots? If I need a replacement for a USA Hamer, who do I need to contact?

TIA! :)

I don't believe you will be able to make a repair strong enough to withstand the pressure of a press on knob.

Also I believe the shaft is either pot metal or aluminum, which probably won't hold solder all that well anyway. If you really don't want to replace the pot, you may be able to build up the shaft with epoxy or

liquid steel or something like that; and then drill out a knob to install onto it, thereby not requiring as tight a fit.

IMO, no. It's pot metal or aluminum as mentioned above. I'd replace the pot. Set screws and split-shaft pots don't mix.
