Kahler service tips needed please

Question

I know I used to have a little fold-out that came with a Hamer Scarab many moons ago with little arrows pointing to the friction/lube points, but it is nowhere to be found so I'm mappealing to the brain trust here for an assist.

I know, Kahler, Scarab, a HFC cat could almost not even been bothered..... But.....

.....Got an old dog ('84) that's squeaky and not returning to pitch properly, so I'm gonna hit the individual string rollers and their bearing surface with some lube, but 2 things come to mind;

What is the preferred oil/lube for this task, and what of the big "cam" that the whole pivot assembly, well, pivots on? Isn't that a sealed bearing scene (one on each end) or is there work to be done there as well?

Thanks in advance for any tips on dealing with this particular Demon.

if they are sticking , you may want to start with some wd40 or if you can find it BG products "knock er loose" and work them free..

Ive found that soaking them in lacquer thinner helps to free up the oils and gunk...

then a good light oil should bring it back to life.. Ive used fishing reel oil in the past with good luck..

Mobil 1 syn oil.

So, basically I can just go out and get a drop or two off the floor from beneath my wife's Harley?

Perfect.......

Thanks!

Worlds better, thanks!

Are the steel or composite replacement rollers a true "upgrade"? Anyone done the heavy springs swap?

Not a hateful thing as it is, the Kahler, but the tweaker in me is always looking for sonic sculpting options. I love that I can drop D and keep the top in tune! Those cliche's are super clean as well. It could fight back at the bar a bit harder still and I'd be happy. The action is smooth, smooth, smoother.

Not so sure how much sustain is being robbed, but note attack could maybe be a tad sharper - that'd be my only complaint so far......then again, it is a short-scale affair so......

Got it all cleaned up for a NGD. Now, where's that camera?

I did the heavy spring swap on a Phantom GT I used to own, which has resided with our own Murkat for

the past few years. The heavy springs really felt much better to me, and improved the units ability to return in

tune. The original springs were pretty much shot.
