Fender Aerodyne switch replacement issue

Looks like my plan to drop my EMG DG set into my new Aerodyne Strat has been foiled! It turns out that the control cavity is not quite deep enough to accept the 5-way that is employed in the set, so I ask - what sort of switch can one use when there isn't clearance for the standard CRL unit? I would hate to think that I'm stuck with a crappy imported (box-style) unit, but it is better than no pickups I suppose (I got this unit with NO pg or pickups, so I can't determine what was originally on board).

Using the dremel to get that extra 1/8" clearance looks like it also gets me a hole through the back of the body, so.......

.....anyone have a viable 5-way option that is shallower that the usual suspects (and isn't a gritty, stiff P.O.S)?

Thanks in advance wise ones.

Cool. Are you suggesting finding the Ibby part # and ordering said part through Hoshino's minions here in the States, or is there an alternate source that I'm missing? Scouted Allparts, Stew-Mac, and GPR and didn't have much luck. I have seen that box switch before in place but never for sale.

I wonder if the Guitar Fetish parts are functionally worthy? They have an import switch that might work, and I know their pickups don't suck.

If I knew I had enough meat to work with I'd just make the hole a hair deeper and be done with it......

I looked on ebay,

they all look the same as far as construction.

its your pic as long as its going to fit.

A true switchcraft could be modded to fit,

just need to know how much the

switch needs to be modded to fit.

Can be done..... I think... ;)

Do you know how much depth you have? StewMac says their switch needs 1-3/8 mounting depth.
