SteveE9C6 Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 I'm looking for a pair of 10" Weber Californias or JBL d110F for my Vibrolux. Must be 8 ohm.
BadgerDave Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 Bruce919 has a pair of Weber Silver Bell 10's for sale that would work very well in a Vibro. I tried half a dozen speakers in my '67 Deluxe Reverb before mounting a Silver Bell Alnico 12 in one of those "hmmm, I wonder what this would sound like" moments. The Silver Bell was a perfect match, taming the Deluxe's ice-pick tendencies and solidifying the low end. All of the Jensens and Jensen clones I tried were harsh at the top end and flubby on the low E. I know the Silver Bell is supposed to be a "British" toned speaker, but it sounds exceptionally good in my Fender for both clean and OD tones.
SteveE9C6 Posted September 28, 2005 Author Posted September 28, 2005 I saw those and considered them. I'm not sure how well they would work for what I intend. I'm going for an ultra clean tele sparkle type sound. The magnets in these are pretty small compared to the California series. Since I currently have a similar alnico (Eminence Blue Frame Alnico), I'm not sure what I would gain.thanks!
bruce919 Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 The Silver tens do very well clean. I replaced them do the fact thet did not do good with a lot of Distortion. They do the clean & slightly overdriven tones very very well.
