  1. I almost sold this guitar four years ago but changed my mind. The top on this is just stunning. It is my favorite Electric out of my entire collection.
  2. As a long time working pedal steeler, I'd echo the Buck Owens sugggestion. I have an extensive music collection that includes many many country records. (Yes, Records) My faves... Buck Ray Price ( I have the great honor of playing three gigs with him in the last ten years) Merle Haggard Faron Young Gary Stewart George Jones Vern Gosdin Charlie Pride (Played with him last year at Austin County fair) Gene Watson Johnny Bush Mel Street Newer artists I like.... Alan Jackson George Strait Daryl Singletary Brad Paisley Josh Turner
  3. She came on Friday. I actually was off and went out and tracked down the UPS guy... This is really a nice guitar. I played it at a gig Saturday evening and really enjoyed it. This is my first new Hamer. It's perfection.
  4. Well, I qualify as older. Wiser? Hmm, I managed to lose a little over $200k on tech stocks a few years ago. Learned a big lesson about greed. Also learned the value of diversification. Now... parting out guitars... There is a fellow on ebay who makes a living parting out brand new Fenders. He has been the subject of some discussion on the Fender Discussion Page. I don't know if the market is saturated or not. I pay zero attention to this market. Like our fellow forumite "Straightblues", I buy and sell solely for the fun of it. This is primarily an enthusiast forum. The vast majority of posters here do not have any type of profit agenda. They are here for the thrill and fun of guitar collecting, discussion and the group vibe. Even the retailers who hang here take a low key approach. If you have the time, energy, money, and knowledge, there may be a little money to be made in what you propose. I personally don't think it's worth it.
  5. Jeez... I practice family medicine. Boy did I go in the wrong field. Between losing money on guitars, malpractice insurance, deadbeats, and kids in college, I'm rapidly gaining on negative net equity. At least I'm doing it in volume!
  6. I'm a fixing to play a tribute to Buck on her. BTW... I've played three gigs with Ray Price in the last ten years. The lead guitarist plays a battered old Les Paul into an equally battered Marshall Combo! A great clean tone...
  7. Here is my new Elite....
  8. I do this all the time.... unfortunately, my motto seems to be "Buy high, Sell Low". I can easily count the money I've not made by opening my empty wallet;)
  9. Mozart Charlie Parker Eric Johnson
  10. step away from the credit card... must...resist....gas......
  11. Our families prayers are with you and your family at this time. Take comfort in knowing that she is safe in the arms of the Father. God Bless and comfort you and your family. Steve
  12. BTW... I know Terry. He is an excellent pedal steel player as well as a guitarist. A nice guy...
  13. If you look at my profile you will note that my interests are listed as "Christ, Family, Music, and Medicine." I won't pontificate about my religious views other than to comment that "science without God makes no sense". I'm well educated and traveled. I was an army medic in vietnam. I saw firsthand what heroin did to friends. I saw it cripple my sister and turn one brother into a street person who has never recovered...even today. I practice medicine for a living. I'm semi retired after a career starting as an enlisted army medic, going to medical school, becoming an army officer and serving for 23 years. Now I practice in a rural outreach clinic that is a Christian ministry. I am in a very poor area of Texas which has a horrific drug problem. While heroin is a problem, meth is the big problem now. There is nothing glamorous or beneficial about drug use. I honestly can't fathom the mind of someone who can claim otherwise.
