mail4kev Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Dear all, The 94 studio I sold to a friend seems to have developed a problem - its loose, crackles and jack falls out pretty easy. Any idea where I could get a identical replacement? Or do any of you guys have a spare? And how exactly is the safest and best way to remove a input jack? Not familiar with these jack and sure don't wanna ruin the finish in the process.Kev
Turdus Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 This used to come up quite a bit. The part is a Switchcraft 151. Google it, and you should be able to find a replacement. The problem, as I seem to recall, is it's a metric jack, and most 1/4" cables are exactly that. So you get some play. Should be able to unsolder, remove the nut from the control cavity, and take it out.I just bought a '97 Studio, and I'm happy to say that the jack is "tight".
G Man Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Also, consider the cable being used. I recently picked up a Lava Cables Retro Coil and that sucker has a really nice and tight fit, much more so than some others I have used.
hamerhead Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Email Hamer. Kim sent one free-of-charge for my old '81 Special. Now that's how customer service should work. Great company.
mail4kev Posted April 28, 2012 Author Posted April 28, 2012 Thanks all! Will see if I can get one from Hamer directly.Kev
