Submariner85 Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 I would say, you should win your case and further more, that looks like a USA Studio in the auction, look at how close the 12th fret dots are to each other. jack. Well his ORIGINAL Listing was for a Hamer Studio Gatsso and I knew damned well it wasn't one for the price so after questioning, he took the Gat part off. Still waiting on Paypal response. The guy apparently contested it. Well F him. I sent paypal all the info and told them I could buy the guitar he actually sent for 150 dollars all day long and had I known it was a Slammer I wouldn't have bid at all.
billhart22 Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Pursue the prick! Ebay scammers and lame brains deserve the worst!!When I am thinking about buying a guitar from somebody on ebay, I usually, email them and ask if they will take about a hundred dollars less than the opening auction price....you would be amazed at how many people will. I know, I do it.But before buying anything, I get into a conversation with them (via email or phone), ask all of the questions that I have and then have them send me pictures of their guitars...which legitimate people will more than proudly do..When they send the pics, check them out and their house and so forth (in pics that they send you) and see how stable they look and how much of a guitar person they are by looking at the guitars that they have. The last guitar that I bought, 2 weeks ago, is a fully customized Daytona...a beautiful mint guitar. I told the guy that I was a Hamer player and that I thought the price that I was offering was so fair. He said OK and $25 to ship. Well it turned out that it cost him $50.54 and he said he would eat it. I said no and sent him $35 additional of my own doing. He was really greatful and I didn't mind at all.He told me how all the guys that he knows make fun of him because he wipes his guitars down all of the time. You can learn so much from talking to the people before buying and you can get the price into perspective with a reasonable person. Hell, I told him that if I die before him, I will have it sent back free of charge to him.If I die - the guitar goes back...no prob..my wife has his address. It tuned out that this fellow had more Hamers than most people and they were all just simply beautiful!.I was totally shocked!I have never bought a guitar from EBay for even the starting bid price...people will sell them lower. The guitar showed up packed so well, that I was astonished. Now he and I are email friends and we have both made a great relationship with each other.I know that when I used to drool and get so excited about a guitar, I couldn't wait to buy it (I still am that way...but now I use the above method...after all, it is money)I don't know if I said anything here..Bill
Submariner85 Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 I guess the biggest lessons learned here are "do not buy anything that they don't have an actual picture of" and no matter how much you want to believe that people are honest (like me), DTA.
