kizanski Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Dammit! Talk about bursting a guy's bubble!I had planned on bagging all four bound & crowned Sunbursts for the combined cost of $226.15!Thanks a lot, Muse!
mc2 Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Damn!! And I thought those were the rare Hamer Quadruplets that used to tour the sideshow circuit over in China.I ordered Chinese take-out tonight and the fortune in my cookie actually said "You lucky day...will Buy-eee, many geeetah tooday that look velly alike. Demm A-OK...play like buttah. Send cash to my momma by bank transfer quickie!1"
Gabe Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Legit auctionScam auctions Hello Chris, Do you mean that all auctions in the scam auctions list are Ebay-scam??? Including those of people/stores with more than 400 positive feedbacks (or for instance sigler-music with more than 13000 feedbacks)??? IMHO you should make it clear that your complaint is about the bound and crowned Sunburst that is being offered by a couple of chinese Ebay'ers. I have reported this chinese to Ebay, asking to remove these auctions. So far I did not hear anything back from Ebay. Gabe
MCChris Posted October 6, 2005 Author Posted October 6, 2005 Hello Chris,Do you mean that all auctions in the scam auctions list are Ebay-scam??? No. Just the top four, the ones that use Dave's picture.
kizanski Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 They're multiplying.Now there are 5 of them...Scam #1.Scam #2.Scam #3.Scam #4.Scam #5.That's what you get for taking good pictures, Dave...
BadgerDave Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 Looks like eBay has pulled the counterfeit ads. Thanks for the heads-up Chris.Bastards. Their greed and dishonesty are eclipsed only by their stupidity.
Submariner85 Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 That is sad and funny at the same time.Sad because someone could have threw away good money to this Chinaman.Funny because he was dumb enough to not only use someone else's picture, but also the listing. The stuff he added like "Happy bidding" is a bunch of horrible broken English that doesn't make sense.Wow. Hope Ebay hunts them down.

BLuesBuster Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 the ugly part of golbalizationand there's nothing we can do about it
Brownsound Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 Ebay is a hotbed for scams and fraud. I have recently purchased a couple of things off of Ebay, nothing too spendy and I still feel dirty everytime I do it. Its like a huge parking lot of unscrupulous types selling stuff out of the back of a van. I see lots or really shoddy products from China with misleading descriptions and and some are outright fraud, seems to be a tendency toward the dishonest in good ol China.
marcnorth Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 You make it sound like everyone on ebay is a scammer. I've done plenty of deals and have not been scammed or scammed anybody.
Submariner85 Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I have had lots of good transactions and a few not so great but overall +I am currently waiting on Paypal to decide something in a case I have against a seller.Tell me if I'm wrong for filing a claim. He advertised a Studio Gattso Hamer and used a picture of a Studio Hamer (USA)I thought by the price and description it was probably an SAT, SATF, SATQ which was what I was looking for at the time.In the description he says "The only difference between the picture and the actual guitar is that the actual guitar has all black pickups"I asked him if it was an SATF and he said, he wasn't sure what model it was but the only difference was blah blah ...same as in the listing.Since he answered emails quickly, I figured he was ok and went for it.Total 277 dollars.I get the guitar and the box is kind of light hmmmOpen it up and there is a SLAMMER SPF1 staring up at me. I was pissed and told him I wanted my money back. He said "you took your chances"After further steaming and research, I found the EXACT word for word description he used in the listing was cut and pasted from Musician's Friend description of the Hamer SAT.Differences:Advertised: Archtop, Set Neck, Mahogany body and so on. Picture shows Hamer clearly on the headstock.Real guitar is a Chinese, Flattop, with a cheap wrap around bridge and a bolt on neck. Guitar has SLAMMER by Hamer on it.I personally think it was a bit of creatively deceptive advertising and taking advantage of my trust that there are good people out there. Here is the listing and I was the bidder on this..........Tell me if I'm wrong.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1
marcnorth Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I would say you have a good case to get your money back. The item you got was not what his auction was for. That's a bummer.
MCChris Posted October 7, 2005 Author Posted October 7, 2005 "you took your chances" Here's hoping that guy experiences some pain today.I have a question. Why does he still have a 100% feedback rating? PLEASE tell me you're not one of those people who won't expose this guy for the piece of feces that he is because you're paralyzed by the possibility of a retaliatory negative.Feel free to cut and paste:"Item was NOT as described. When I told the seller so, he replied "you took your chances.""

I didn't know if I should wait til the case was resolved.Oh, I planned on blasting him on feedback. Should I do it now? or wait? And no, I'm not paralyzed by shit.

Brownsound Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 You make it sound like everyone on ebay is a scammer. I've done plenty of deals and have not been scammed or scammed anybody. If you know what your looking for and are targeting specifit items you really dont see all the scams. There are also categories that have much more of a scam factor envolved. For instance. I used to collect old Japanese swords. If you look at the items now fully 3/4 are either scam or deceptive or down right fraud. And we arent talking about just a few items.I also have heard to that there are a fair number of people passing counterfit or remanufacured Marshall equip most noteably the older amp heads. But no its not a every auction that is bad but it aint no Home Depot either.
black magic Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 I would say, you should win your case and further more, that looks like a USA Studio in the auction, look at how close the 12th fret dots are to each other. jack.
