Turdus Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 New to me, but apparently around for 20 years. Progressive band. Quite a few albums to choose from. Any suggestions from those in the know?
Disturber Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 They are Swedish. I haven't really followed their whereabouts but the stuff I've heard were really good. http://www.allmusic....gs-mn0000067078 http://www.flowerkings.se/ Seems like a great live act too. I will check them out if I get the chance....:
tommy p Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 I'm not a prog guy, but a friend of mine who has an original prog band highly recommended them to me so I queued up all their stuff on Spotify. He told me the guitarist (I think) had a solo album called The Flower King before there was a band. The band he played the material with became The Flower Kings. He recommended starting with that album.
Turdus Posted October 24, 2012 Author Posted October 24, 2012 I stumbled upon this cut, and made it through all 13 minutes When the song kicks at :30, it's a pretty intense first 2 minutes: I'd read that this band definitely hints at Pink Floyd, Genesis, and Yes. Some other review mentioned "Crack The Sky" which has always been on my radar... the 70's incarnation that is. Prog is an aquired taste for sure, and lenghty compositions can be tough. For me, a lot of it is about the bass playing. Prog bassists seem to get the best tone. Their guy seems to have it.
