captjc Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 I'm trying to get some recommendations on a possible bridge replacement for a recently acquired T-51? I'm leaning towards a 3 saddle for more of a vintage look. Thanks in advance!
captjc Posted December 12, 2012 Author Posted December 12, 2012 Just sell it. I sense ulterior motives! That's still a possibility if I can't get someone to buy one of my Daytonas.
atquinn Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 The Barden Tele bridge is excellent IME.-Austin
captjc Posted December 14, 2012 Author Posted December 14, 2012 Thanks Austin, and it is much less than the Callaham.
stonge Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 I have a vintage-style Wilkenson with 3 compensated brass saddles on my T51. The vintage style is a little shorter than the stock Wilkie, and you can see the outline of the back edge of the old bridge but you have to really look for it. Not that much of an issue unless you have a lot of fading on the face of the guitar. I've got a Barden bridge somewhere in my parts pile for a pine parts-o-caster that I'm building; those are better built than the vintage-style but it's not worth swapping imho. My T51 is fairly heavy, and I think the vintage-style bridge just sounds right to me on that guitar. It sure has enough top end lol.
