sonic1974 Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 For electrics, I usually use 10s, sometimes 11s on a Gibson scale length guitar, especially after I've been playing acoustic a lot. On acoustic, I use 13s. As far as brand, for me, brands for electrics don't seem to make much of a difference. For acoustic though, it makes more of a difference to my ears. I like Martin phosphor bronze, I wouldn't mind trying out some "higher end" strings to see if they make a difference, as long as their isn't too much of a difference in price. For alternate tunings, drop D every once in a blue moon. I like a tuning I learned from Daughter from Pearl Jam, but overall, I never really got a hang of using alternate tunings, I've got enough difficulties playing normally!!
Jeroen Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 EXL 110 from D'Addario on electrics 010. And EJ26 on acoustic guitars 011
Gitslide Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 10s on the Fender scale guitars, 10 1/2 on the Gibson scale. They feel pretty close. GHS Boomers. On my slide guitar tuned to open E the strings are HUGE. All I remember is the G# (3rd string) is an unwound .020 . . kinda hard to find. They rarely get changed. This allows a fairly low action so I can fret chords, but not knock the frets when I'm a slidin'.
