I've posted (too much) about my discovery of Marc Bonilla as he fronted the Gamma portion of the Concert for Ronnie Montrose. Since then I've been watching videos and listening to the extensive collection of music on his web site (solo projects, collaborations and film scores). I keep coming back to his main guitar (a Yamaha Pacifica with a non-locking trem and an EMG humbucker and one single coil) and I'm thinking such a guitar would be really cool to have.
My love for fat necks has given me a disinterest in shredder-types for many years. What I'm wondering is: is there a Hamer shredder with a neck that is maybe a little on the chubbier side of wafer thin (Python reference)? Maybe just a bit larger than the "Medium" necks of the mid-to-late '90's Specials? If not, I'm thinking it may be an interest best served by rolling my own. I am familiar with the PC-1, but the price has put me off of that one and I would like to make it a Hamer if at all possible.
Any purchase, of course, would have to come in 2014, after the Buy No Guitars Challenge [formerly known as the Feynman III Challenge] has run its course.
