Ovation Breadwinner Limited

My co-worker found this in a friend's attic. True story, the lady's husband passed away and this was crammed on a shelf in the attic in like new condition. This guitar is pretty much unplayed. There are a very few minor dings on the edge of the body and one small scratch on the pickguard. The guitar sounds beautiful, I just played it, but it could use a setup to lower the action a bit. OHSC is immaculate. For more information, feel free to contact me or my coworker at the addresses listed below.

Someone Gave me one several years ago that had the active electronics messed up. I in turn traded it for some Polk Audio stereo speakers. As I recall it was a nice playing axe, and surprisingly well balanced given its odd shape.

Just wondering if that's the original body shape.

Looks like it may have have the finish stripped and a waist carved into the top

I've never seen that shape on a Breadwinner, but it could have been a later version.

I thought the upper half of the body was one big curve, as shown in the case...

What do they make of it at the Ovation site?

Probably a nice guitar anyway....

I always liked the Deacon, which was a black Breadwinner with ebony board

This is a Breadwinner Limited, only about 500 of them made. Body shape, finish, and everything about the guitar is original. Electronics all work flawlessly. The guitar sounds really nice, especially on the neck humbucker. Each pickup has its own 9v battery, which is different than any other active units I've encountered.

Yeah, sorry mate, I just had a look at the Ovation site and saw that charcoal one..

My mistake...just never saw one in Australia..we mustn't have had 'em here..

Don't remember seeing ads in Guitar Player either...

Anyway, good luck with that...looks like a nice one

Cheers

No problem. I hadn't ever seen one before either. It's a cool axe. I just learned that if this thing sells my commission is a big Mexican dinner complete with Corona! Break out the checkbooks boys, I'm hungry!

Oddly enough, the doctors are now considering him a medical miracle. He made it home from the hospital a few weeks ago, barely able to walk with a walker. Now, he's walking laps around their 26 acre farm with no walker, cane, or assistance of any kind. He's still looking at some chemo for cancerous spots on his liver, but he's doing incredibly well. Though it may offend some here, I have to say that the power of prayer was a major factor. Thanks to everyone here who sent some words up to God for him, and thanks to everyone else who offered up their support as well, whether it was in karma, good vibes, kind words, etc. You guys helped me through a very difficult time. I only hope to be able to return the favor if you ever find yourselves in a similar situation.

Steelstringer here. I just finished up with the registration process. The Breadwinner Limited listed is actually my guitar, so you can respond directly to me if you are intersted or have any questions about the guitar. If you have any questions about my credibility, you can ask Save the Matches. We have been co-workers for the last 2 years. Thanks!

Steelstringer's a good guy. If only I could get him to dump the Gibbies and switch to Hamer . . . but maybe joining up here will help him cure that affliction!

Yeah, with what he gets for the 'O' he could buy Tom's '79 'burst....

then he'd know...heh

I dropped the price a bit on the Breadwinner if anyone is still pondering this guitar. It would make a great Christmas gift...

Thanks
