Tremelo Arm for a Hamer USA Daytona

Question

I have a USA made Hamer Daytona and I need to get a replacement arm for the stock tremelo. I believe it's a Wilkinson tremelo. The arm is a push-in style. I'm not sure if the arm is a 5 or 6 mm size. Does anyone know what size it is? I bought the guitar new in 1996.

I'll have to check - the current (Gotoh) Wilkinsons use a larger diameter bar, so it won't work with the older style units.

Okay, according to a post by a guy named Guitar George on another forum I found out the Hamer Daytona use a Wikinson VSV bridge so the part I need is a Gotoh AW-2 push-in arm according to the Gotoh site.

I don't believe the newer Gotoh arm will be compatible with your original Wilkinson VSV-G.

Thanks cmathes,

I got the following reply from Gotoh:

"Thanks for your inquiry.
It is GOTOH VSVG when the base plate of a tremolo has a hole mark of "by GOTOH."
The arm for which it is suitable is AW-2."

I'm not sure what he means by base plate and I didn't see "by GOTOH" anywhere on the tremolo so I'll just wait and try the AW-2 I oredered when it gets here.

Thanks for your help.

This is the later, "Gotoh by Wilkinson" bridge assembly - note the stamp next to the trem hole:

This is the '90s Wilkinson trem, which is original stock for a Daytona. There is no "Wilkinson by Gotoh" print on there, and the arms are different thicknesses (not interchangeable):

C'mon now Chris - you can't just show that much of a couple of sparkly Daytonas!

I've seen a little of the "Filtered" Daytona, but never the "Placid" one.

A member here (Stonge) found the appropriate bar stock and had some nice ones made a long time ago. I haven't seen any since then, but maybe he could weigh in on the correct thickness, etc.
