Montelovesco Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Time to clean up one more time. And then there are some acquisitions to come... :-) 1.) Vanguard P90 with mid boostAccording to the S/N its is a 1999 built. Plays nicely. I got this one via CL from Canada. Condition is good, one scratch on the back (see second pic) and two barely visible dings on the neck. Nice champagne color. It's got Lollars inside, but I will swap them back to the stock SDs. Comes with OHSC. I am looking for 700 . 2.) 1980 SpecialSome of you will remember this one: I got it last fall, but we did not bound. Neck is to big for my taste. Nice flame top, some dings down to the wood on the back and the neck. Some of them filled with something that looks like wood glue. Some serious Hameritis on the joint. Don't know if was broken here, but if so, it is pretty stable. No tuning problems at all. When I got it, it had wrong knobs, wrong tuners, a wrong bridge PU, black PU frames.Changed the Grovers to back Schallers (drill wholes from the Grovers are visible).Changed the knobs to black ones and the black strap holder to chrome colored. Changed the PU to a DiMarzio 36th anniversary PAFChanged the PU frames to vintage white ones. Then I asked Murkat for a refinish, but decided not to do it after stumbling into a certain other guitar. The thing sound great, really great, and it resonates really good. As I wrote the first time, I am not really into vintage mojo, but this guitar has something about it. It comes with a little beat up OHSC. I am looking for 800. Paypal is okay for me, we split the fee, and shipping is on me for HFC members. And please, these are European prices, I know it is a bit steep for our US friends. Feels free to ask any questions and to ask for more pictures. Thanks for looking.
Samuello Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Nice guitars! Questions: What's the mid-boost in your Vanguard about? A passive system? Never heard of that before! And what kind of neck shape the Vanguard has?
Montelovesco Posted March 1, 2014 Author Posted March 1, 2014 Nice guitars! Questions: What's the mid-boost in your Vanguard about? A passive system? Never heard of that before! And what kind of neck shape the Vanguard has? It is an active boost, you control the level with the knob that usually controls the tone - so you got just one volume on this one. You activate it with the miniswitch. The neck is no shredder, but no baseball bat too. Just something in between. Very comfy for me.
Montelovesco Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 Payment pending for the Special, Vanguard still for sale...
Montelovesco Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 Both are for sale again. Sorry for the confusion. Just to be sure: The prices in the first post are in Euro, so the Special is approx. 1200 USD, the Vanguard 970 USD.
Montelovesco Posted March 9, 2014 Author Posted March 9, 2014 Sunday evening bump - and lowered price for the Special: 750 Euro now and shipping in Europe is on me for both of the. C'mon, folks, help me keeping them in the family. Or they will end up on ebay (for a higher BIN, btw)...
Montelovesco Posted March 16, 2014 Author Posted March 16, 2014 Next bump for the 80ties Special. Price drop to 700 Euro (sorry guys, NO shipping included in this price). Two reason for that:First, I want to move her.Second: During the meeting in Frankfurt it seemed pretty clear that the neck was broken at the neck joint. The repair was good, no hearable problems, still sounding great stays in tune etc. But it is, what it is. :-( The Vanguard is NO longer for sale. My son (3.5 yrs old) prohibited. "Thats my favorite guitar, dad. You must not sell that one." I obey.
