Metal in the 21st Century -after I voted on a Loudwire poll

Just voted in a poll hosted by Loudwire about 21st Century metal albums.

Of course, those polls are always BS, but I'm glad two bands I consider in the metal avant-garde did make the list: Gojira and Meshuggah -specially the later, which has influenced dozens of djent bands as well as many many others.

Amon Amarth also made it. They aren't technical at all, but their mid-paced pedal-driven melodic riffs are nowadays a major force to reckon on, no doubt about that.

In short, three bands I think actually are pack leaders are represented. Cool!

Which are the ones to you?

Wish I could offer up something. All of the metal I listen to was recorded in the 1980s. There seem to be a lot of highly-skilled shredders amongst the young bunch, but I have a tough time finding any of it listenable.

For what it's worth, I do find humor in the attachment of "core" to nearly any modifier to identify a new sub genre of metal. I also chuckle at the overly complex and somewhat pretentious names of modern metal bands in a sub genre I like to call "sentence fragment metal":

I do think that having a few of these bands together on the same bill would produce some comedic, perhaps poetic, and near-complete sentences:
